ImageSoft cache and proxy
A new version of Nutmeg, ImageSoft's cache application for Oregano, has
been released. This version includes improved cacheing and cache retrieval
speeds, a number of bug fixes, and improved memory management, including
support for dynamic areas.
ImagePrxy, a proxy server, has also been updated. Aside from various bug
fixes and performance improvements, the server now supports user
configured port proxying. This allows the application to proxy SMTP, POP,
etc, in addition to the in-built support for HTTP. Work continues on FTP,
SOCKS and HTTPS support. The update is available to registered users.
Nutmeg costs GBP20 and ImagePrxy GBP39.99 (fully inclusive). Registered
users receive upgrades free of charge.

Acorn Publisher to change hands
Akalat Publishing wishes to announce that after publication of Vol. 8
issue 6 (August 2002) the ownership of Acorn Publisher will be transferred
from Akalat Publishing to John Cartmell of Fleur Designs who will be
responsible for publication of all issues from Vol. 9 issue 1 onwards
(October 2002).
Mike Williams, who runs Akalat Publishing and who has produced Acorn
Publisher since its successful launch in October 1994, said, "After eight
years during which I believe Acorn Publisher has achieved a deserved
reputation as the best looking and most readable RISC OS magazine, I have
decided that I want to devote more time to other interests. I am very
pleased indeed that John Cartmell has agreed to take the helm of the
magazine, as I did not want to let down the many people who have supported
Acorn Publisher since it started. A new owner and editor is good news for
the magazine, and I know that John shares my aims of producing a
professional quality magazine for the RISC OS market. Indeed, an injection
of fresh ideas may well provide the catalyst to develop Acorn Publisher to
meet the needs of RISC OS users over the coming years.
"I hope that everyone within the RISC OS community will continue to
support Acorn Publisher, and to support John in the future."
Akalat Publishing will continue to provide design and printing services to
a range of clients.
