Unix Porting Project
The Unix porting project is a way for you to actively contribute to RISC
OS by having a say in what programs you want to see, and getting support,
development and automated upgrades of those programs.

Future of .org
ICANN has begun the process of transferring the ORG top level domain from
Network Solutions / VeriSign to another group. One of the new proposals is
from the Internet Software Consortium, please consider supporting their
".org TLD is a public trust" bid. For more information see:

The ISC is responsible for important software such as the BIND name server
and INN news server, and currently runs one of the 13 root name servers.

Other bidders range from SWITCH, the Swiss academic network, to The .Org
Foundation, which appears to have ties to Microsoft.
Mico support now available for RISC OS Select
RISCOS Ltd is pleased to announce that MicroDigital Mico computers
are now supported under the RISC OS Select Scheme.
A new version of the RISC OS Select Installer is available for download
from the RISC OS Select web site at http://select.riscos.com/.
A Mico version of the Select CDs is available on request for Mico users.

Second hand Risc PCs from GBP80
Various second hand Risc PCs are available from Liquid Silicon. Nearly
all have combi ethernet cards and 486 cards, and are either 610 or 710
machines.

Kyocera laser printer price reductions
ExpLAN Computers has announced reductions in the cost of the Kyocera
laser printers, which are supplied complete with printer drivers and
utilities. These printers have low running costs and long service
intervals due to the use of a ceramic drum which does not require
exchanging. The FS-3750 has been replaced by the newer FS-3800, and has
resulted in the following special offers:
FS-3750, 1200dpi, 18ppm, 16MB RAM, 0.3p /page, 250-sheet cassette

New software summary
Acorn System 1 Emulator
Microsoft Windows software to emulate the Acorn System 1 hardware. The
emulator runs the original Acorn monitor program, and so allows the
development of programs exactly as on the original machine. The intent
is to preserve the general look and feel (and sound) of the original.
