  1. The RISC OS South-East Show

    The Surrey and Sussex Acorn User Group, in conjunction with Fillin Ltd., are proud to announce The RISC OS South-East Show, which will take place on Saturday 2nd November at Guildford Technical College, Stoke Road, Guildford, Surrey.

    This will be the only RISC OS show to be held in the South East this year. For further details see http://www.fillin.co.uk/seshow/.

  1. Simtec USB cards are available

    Simtec Electronics are pleased to announce immediate availability of their USB interface for RISC OS machines. Basic cards with drivers for mice and keyboards cost GBP79 plus VAT and carriage.

  2. EasiWriter/TechWriter CD

    EasiWriter and TechWriter are now available on CD. This has enabled Icon Technology to provide more information and reduce the price to GBP79 for EasiWriter and GBP119 for TechWriter.

    The CD contains:

    • EasiWriter or TechWriter version 7.11 with tutorials and examples.
    • Complete original documentation EasiWriter format and HTML.
    • FAQs - 56 pages of questions and answers.

  1. New software summary

    • dict, dict client for RISC OS

      A client for the Dictionary Server Protocol (DICT), a TCP transaction based query/response protocol that provides access to dictionary definitions from a set of natural language dictionary databases.

    • Logonosis, Bible knowledge quiz

      A Bible knowledge & Bible trivia quiz for one to four players. The aim of the game is for each player to attempt to reach the centre by climbing inwards from the outer squares to the inner squares.

    • MalCheck, trace bugs involving malloc() blocks

      A library with header file which enables the C programmer to track down problems involving blocks manipulated with malloc(), calloc() and realloc(). Calls to these routines are intercepted by defining appropriate macros. The allocated blocks are surrounded with guards and changes in their contents are detected. On every call, all known blocks are checked for illegal changes. Information on the blocks includes a backtrace. It works with both Clib and UnixLib.

  2. Updated software summary

    • ARMalyser v0.33

      An ARM code analyser that understands RISC OS executable, module, object and library formats. The primary aim of this release is to enable the assembler output to be accepted by with Objasm with minimum manual intervention. Once the UK has ratified the EU Copyright directive, the current exemption allowing the reverse engineering of copyrighted software for the purpose of interoperability will be abolished. Everyone should read up on the implications of this change in the law and register your protests accordingly.

    • PSC v1.4

      A configuration utility for POPStar. Simplifies the management of the 'Users' and 'Choices' files in this e-mail fetcher. New in this version: export functions; simple search/replace options; extended interactive help.
